Taproot Acres

Wild ‘weeds’ were welcomed into the perennial borders of this herbalist’s garden in Boylston, MA.

Project Goals: Reduce time spent weeding and watering by introducing a matrix of medicinal herbs that act as a living mulch.

Key Plants: Rosa rugosa, Liatris spicata, Nepeta faassenii, Hydrangea paniculata, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Thymus serpyllum

Inspired by Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit, barefoot herb harvests, a warm mug of chamomile tea before bed
